We are pleased to announce that OMIS has joined the group of key suppliers for the Hy4Smelt pilot project in Linz, Austria (https://lnkd.in/dCcG5z6y). Hy4Smelt is Austria’s largest climate research project, setting a new direction for steel production. An innovative facility for producing hot-briquetted iron (HBI) with the potential to achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions is being built at the Voestalpine plant. Construction of the demonstration facility is already underway, and OMIS is responsible for supplying a steel structure weighing a total of 3,000 tons. The first production run at the facility is scheduled for the end of 2027, and the research project is expected to be completed in 2030.
