OMIS awarded erection contract for Hy4Smelt project

We are pleased to announce another important step in OMIS's involvement in the Hy4Smelt project in Linz, Austria.

While the delivery of steel structures for the project is still ongoing, we have recently signed a new contract covering the erection of a significant part of the structures manufactured by OMIS. Under the agreement, our teams will install more than half of our production scope on site.

Assembly works are scheduled to begin in July 2026 and continue through the end of the year, with completion planned for early 2027.

The new contract is an important vote of confidence in our capabilities and allows us to contribute to the project not only as a steel structure supplier, but also as an active partner in its execution phase.

Hy4Smelt is Austria’s largest climate research project and one of Europe’s most ambitious initiatives focused on reducing CO₂ emissions in steel production. We are proud to further strengthen our role in this pioneering investment and support the development of more sustainable technologies for the steel industry.

Commenting on the upcoming works, Lech Gorzoch, Erection Manager at OMIS, said:

"This is already the second project in Austria that I have been involved in over the past two years. I am pleased that once again we will have the opportunity to apply our erection expertise on such a demanding industrial investment. Austria has left us with very positive impressions — not only because of the high standards of project execution, but also thanks to the excellent cooperation with the people on site."
